Shetland
Islands Council's Capital Programme Service provides Project
Management and Design Services to the Council and to other
public bodies in Shetland.
It also commissions work from Architectural practices in Shetland
and the UK. The Service employs one chartered architect, one
architectural technician and a trainee technician.
The Councils Capital Programme is around £20m a year, a large part of which
is building construction.
A wide range of projects include new schools, social work homes, offices and
housing. Some design work is carried out in-house although the Council commission
Architects to design the majority of its projects.
